Schützenfest in the Municipality of Saterland
The municipality of Saterland in the far northwest of the Cloppenburg district is known for its own language (Saterfriesisch, one of the smallest languages in Europe) and its vibrant club culture. Each district celebrates its own Schützenfest—from Ramsloh to Strücklingen and Scharrel to Sedelsberg and Bollingen. The Schützenfest Bollingen is one of these local Schützenfeste and is considered the annual highlight of the village community.
Course of the Schützenfest
The festival follows the classic course of North German Schützenfeste: King's shooting before the festival, king's reception on the festival Saturday, festive parade through the center of Bollingen with a marching band and club flags, king's dinner, proclamation and coronation of the new royal court, and dance evening in the festival tent.

Schützenfest Bollingen — edition 2026
The Bollingen Marksmen's Club will publish the final program for 2026 in the spring. As a rule, Schützenfeste in the Saterland municipality start on Saturday evening with the king's reception, and Sunday features a church service, a festive parade, and the proclamation.
