Overview

In 2025, the Alte Bürgerschützengilde Recklinghausen celebrated its 119th Schützenfest on the traditional Whitsun weekend in the Erlbruchpark. The reigning Schützenkönig remained Horst I. Kluge, who has ruled the guild since 2023. Three days of festivities with Großer Zapfenstreich, bird shooting, and a festive parade.

The 2025 Schützenfest continued the tradition maintained since 1387. In 2025, the guild gathered again in the festival tent in the Erlbruchpark behind Recklinghausen's town hall for three days of customs, conviviality, and sporting bird shooting. As the royal couple Horst I. Kluge had only been crowned in 2023, the edition proceeded without a change of throne – a typical interim year in the ABSG's three-year cycle.

Programme

The 2025 program followed the established structure: Großer Zapfenstreich on Friday evening, bird shooting on Saturday, and the coronation parade on Whitsun Monday. The election of a new king is scheduled again for 2026.
