Tradition in the Stadtpark
The Schönecker Heimatfest is one of the fixed summer dates in the Vogtland region. For four days at the beginning of August, the Stadtpark – a central green area of the high-altitude spa town – transforms into a festival ground with a stage, gastronomy, carousels, and club presentations. It is the big community festival in which the whole town participates.
Historical Society's Play as a Highlight
A traditional highlight is the play performed by the local historical society, which usually takes place on Sunday afternoon. The plays address themes from local history – a unique genre of the Saxon Heimatfest, which is cultivated with particular dedication in Schöneck.
Organization by Association and Town
The festival is supported by a team around Thomas Bähr, in close cooperation with the local sports club VfB 1912 Schöneck and the town administration. Volunteer helpers from the town shape the atmosphere and ensure the festival's distinctive character.
In the Vogtland District, State of Saxony
Schöneck/Vogtl. is a high-altitude spa town in the Vogtland district (AGS 14523), state of Saxony, at an altitude of around 750 meters – the highest town in Saxony. It is known for its winter sports opportunities and its natural scenery on the edge of the Erzgebirge/Vogtland Nature Park. The Heimatfest is one of the few major summer events in the area.

Getting There
By car via the A72 (exit Plauen-Süd) and then continue on the B173 to Schöneck. By train via Plauen.
Admission
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Food, drinks, and rides are subject to charge.

Those who want to experience Schöneck and the Heimatfest together can combine the weekend with hikes in the Vogtland highland landscape or a visit to the Pöhl dam.
