Overview
In 2025, the Schneeberg Mining Parades also took place on an Advent weekend, continuing their traditional double event: a festive procession on Saturday evening, a grand night-time torch parade on Sunday evening, and a finale concert on the market square. The Mining Brotherhood «Schneeberger Bergparade» e. V. kept this centuries-old tradition alive.
Mining Parades — The Tradition
For generations, the Schneeberg Mining Parades have marked Advent in this mining town of the Erzgebirge. The tradition dates back to Schneeberg's centuries-old mining history — the silver discoveries at Schneeberg from 1471 onwards founded the town. In 2025, too, the weekend followed the established pattern: procession on Saturday, night-time parade on Sunday, finale concert in front of the Town Hall and Church.
In 2026, the custom falls within the town's 555th anniversary year.
