Overview
The Schmöllner Weihnachtsmarkt 2025 once again transformed the market square into an atmospheric Advent market in December. Stalls with handicrafts and culinary specialties, the traditional children's carousel, and the nightly Sandmann appearance attracted families and visitors from the Altenburger Land region and Saxony.
The 2025 edition offered five days of Advent atmosphere in the heart of Schmölln. The Sandmann delighted children every evening at 5 PM with stories and distributed bags of "sleep sand" — a tradition that sets the market apart from interchangeable commercial Advent markets. The Christmas market once again confirmed its reputation as one of the most charming small-town Advent markets in eastern Thuringia.
