In 2025, the Schlossfestspiele Thurnau also took place in the courtyard of Thurnau Castle. The Schlosstheater Thurnau presented plays and concerts under the festival direction of Wolfgang Krebs – a direct preparation for the tenth anniversary edition in 2026.

Schlossfestspiele 2025

The Schlossfestspiele Thurnau 2025 were the ninth edition of the festival series initiated by Wolfgang Krebs in 2012. The Schlosstheater Thurnau used the castle courtyard for theatrical productions and musical open-air evenings against the historic castle backdrop in the Kulmbach district. The plays »Die Tür nebenan« and »Extrawurst«, successfully performed in previous years, had consolidated the regional recognition of the Schlossfestspiele; with »Zwei wie wir«, the anniversary edition in 2026 with the successful Canadian author Norm Foster was already announced.
