Overview

The 30th anniversary edition of the SCHLiNGEL Film Festival took place in October 2025 in Chemnitz — embedded in the program of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. Over 150 films, international and national competitions, film education programs, and industry panels characterized the anniversary program.

In 2025, SCHLiNGEL celebrated its 30th anniversary — a festival that began with much smaller ambitions in 1996 and developed over three decades into one of the largest children's and youth film festivals in Europe. In the year of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, the festival had particular visibility. Over 150 films from around the world, competitions, film education programs for schools, and industry panels characterized the program. The venues were spread across several Chemnitz cinemas in the city center.
