Edition 2025 — Schall & Rausch

Schall & Rausch 2025 took place in late February as a co-production of the Komische Oper Berlin and the Neuköllner Oper at several venues in Berlin-Neukölln. The 2025 iteration already showcased the festival concept of crossover between pop, high culture, club scene, and performance art — the positive reception led to its continuation in 2026.

The 2025 edition confirmed the success of the festival concept. Critics particularly praised the Selemo co-production with the Johannesburg Centre for the Less Good Idea, which was described as a «form of decolonial cultural mediation» and «total theatre». The bridge that the festival builds between avant-garde music theatre and club culture audiences is unique in the German-speaking opera landscape — and shaped the conception of the 2026 Limited Edition.
