Overview

The Rutenfest 2025 transformed Ravensburg into a fortress city at the end of July, as every year, with hundreds of costumed schoolchildren, marksmen's parades, eagle shooting, and a grand closing fireworks display. The Rutenfest Commission, schools, clubs, and shooting guilds brought the most traditional festival in Upper Swabia to life again, filling Marienplatz, Kuppelnau, and the old town with festive activity for five days.

Rutenfest 2025

As every year since 1812 — with a few interruptions due to war and epidemics — the Rutenfest transformed Ravensburg into a five-day festival stage at the end of July 2025. The opening at the Lederhaus, the "Froher Auftakt" on Marienplatz, the ecumenical service in the Liebfrauenkirche, the grand historical parade on Monday, the eagle shooting by high school students, and the closing fireworks followed the established program.

Hundreds of schoolchildren in historical costumes, the drum and fife groups, the marksmen's guilds in traditional "Altschützen" attire, and the entire club life of the city created a spectacle that can only be seen once a year and only in Ravensburg. The Kuppelnau festival grounds, with its rides, tents, and shooting ranges, provided the folk festival atmosphere, while Marienplatz, with its badge-access policy, served as a more exclusive meeting point for the city's society.
