Edition 2025 — RUNschnellweg

The 2025 edition of RUNschnellweg took place in November with three distances (5 km, 10 km, half marathon) on the Ruhr cycle superhighway between Essen and Mülheim. The organizers Westenergie, FUNKE Medien, and the cities drew a positive conclusion and confirmed the continuation in 2026.

RUNschnellweg 2025

The 2025 edition was once again successful — over 2,000 participants in all distances, the typical atmosphere with the headlamp light chains on the unlit cycle superhighway, and an after-race party at the FUNKE Media headquarters.

The format has established itself in recent years as a fixture in the Ruhr region's sports calendar. The organizers Westenergie, FUNKE Medien, and the cities of Essen and Mülheim have confirmed its continuation in 2026 with the identical route and distance concept.
