Edition 2025 — ruhrPRIDE Essen

The 2025 edition of ruhrPRIDE followed the established format of a CSD demonstration (Gruga–Rüttenscheid–City Center) and a two-day street festival on Kennedyplatz and Friedensplatz, framed by a preceding Pride Week. Thousands of visitors came from the Ruhr area, all of NRW, and neighboring federal states. ruhrPRIDE e.V. has been organizing the festival since 2004.

Since 2004, ruhrPRIDE has evolved from a small demonstration into one of the most important major queer events in Western Germany. In 2025, it was again a political and celebratory statement in the heart of the Ruhr area.

Programme

CSD demonstration, two-day street festival, and preceding Pride Week with a cultural program throughout the city.
