Neighbourhood rock festival in Drewitz: Stoner, Punk and handmade music by the Löschteich pond
The Gartenstadt Drewitz in the south of Potsdam, once a socialist prefabricated housing estate, has been transformed into a model project for urban development over the last two decades: traffic calming, creation of green spaces, social infrastructure. The community centre oskar. is at the heart of it — a meeting point, cultural space, and since 2015, the organiser of the neighbourhood rock festival.
The 5th edition in 2019 brought together acts like Purple People Eater, Swedish Death Candy, Jolle, and Candice Gordon — a mix of Stoner rock, Punk, and Indie that continues to shape the festival's genre profile to this day. With the 11th edition in 2026, the festival continues its tradition: alternative rock scene, embedded in the district, supported by the state capital.
The state capital Potsdam has announced festival funding for 2026. 15 festivals were funded out of 18 applications — including Rock am Löschteich, which thus ranks among the recognised pillars of Potsdam's festival scene. Co-funded festivals include the Localize Festival, Trac#4 Tanzparcours, PACE Festival, and the 15th Afrika Festival Potsdam/Brandenburg.
The festival location itself is programmatic: the turning loop of Konrad-Wolf-Allee / Slatan-Dudow-Straße, by the Löschteich pond on the edge of the prefabricated housing estate. Not a traditional festival site, but a conscious appropriation of urban space — a practice frequently encountered in the recent Berlin/Brandenburg festival scene, underscoring the festival's social profile.
Potsdam is the largest city in Brandenburg and, for several years, one of the state's most active festival hubs. With Rock am Löschteich, the Drewitz district has its own distinct festival, exemplifying the district-focused nature of festival funding. The exact date in 2026 will be announced by the organiser in spring/summer — the 2025 edition took place on August 30th.
The 2026 edition is being prepared — the festival has already received confirmation of funding from the state capital Potsdam. The exact date, line-up, and stage programme will be announced by the organiser in spring/summer 2026.
Based on experience, the festival follows the pattern of previous years: a Saturday in late summer (historically late August), open-air at the turning loop in Drewitz, bands from the alternative rock scene with a focus on Stoner, Punk, and Indie.
The detailed 2026 programme will be published by the organiser in summer.
In line with the genre profile of previous years, bands from the fields of Stoner rock, Punk, Indie, and alternative rock music are expected. The historical set order typically includes an afternoon start with local acts and a headliner towards the evening.
Tariffs for 2026 will be published by the organiser in summer. Due to festival funding, usually free or very low cost.
