Overview

The Nordermeldorf Ringreiten in 2025 took place as every year in July — the annual highlight of the village tradition in the Dithmarschen district. Riders paraded from Hof Boie to Nordermeldorf and competed in the public Ringreiten, which has been recognized as UNESCO cultural heritage since 2021.

2025 Edition

As in previous years, the Nordermeldorf Riding Club and the village community organized the equestrian game on the village square. The festive procession started at Hof Boie in Barsfleth, followed by the actual Ringreiten competition on the village square over several rounds.

Against the Backdrop of UNESCO Cultural Heritage

Since its inclusion in the national register of intangible cultural heritage in 2021, the Ringreiten in Nordermeldorf and similar communities has received additional attention — the tradition is consciously preserved and passed on to the younger generation.

Festive procession from Barsfleth to Nordermeldorf, opening ceremony on the village square, Ringreiten competitions, and festive conclusion in the usual framework — similar to the structure of 2026.
