Reichsburg Summer Festival

Reichsburg Cochem is more than a tourist destination. For the citizens of Cochem, it is a place of collective identity, functioning not only as a postcard motif but also playing a role as a social meeting point. With the Reichsburg Summer Festival, the castle administration creates a connection that deliberately appeals to the local community: while other castle events often target an international tourist audience, the summer festival is explicitly designed as a gathering for the citizens of Cochem.

The venue is the Rosenhof – a castle courtyard whose name comes from its historical planting with rose bushes and which is still adorned with blooming roses today. In summer, the courtyard develops a special atmosphere: walls that have heated up in the sun during the day release their warmth in the evening; the setting sun bathes the castle walls in golden light; the Moselle valley lies deep below the walls. A small stage is set up, tables and chairs invite visitors to linger, and a bar and a small catering island provide wine, cocktails, aperitifs, and small snacks.

The motto for 2026 is As long as we can live our dreams – an allusion to the spirit of optimism and joie de vivre that suits a summer castle party. The musical accompaniment is provided by Die Donnerloch Boys from the neighboring Moselle town of Brodenbach, a band with a repertoire of pop, rock, and soul. It starts around 7 p.m. and ends at midnight. Since the rose garden has no roof, weatherproof clothing is recommended; in case of rain, the event may move or be postponed.
