Overview

The 196th Regensburg Diocesan Pilgrimage to Altötting took place from June 5 to 8, 2025 – under the motto "Pilgrims of Hope" in line with the Holy Year 2025 proclaimed by the Pope. 3,000 pilgrims started on the Thursday before Pentecost, with around 5,000 faithful from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South Africa, and Ukraine participating in total. Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer bestowed the blessing.

196th Regensburg Pilgrimage 2025 — Review

From June 5 to 8, 2025, thousands once again made the pilgrimage from Regensburg to Altötting. The motto "Pilgrims of Hope" related to the Holy Year 2025. The Diocese of Regensburg reported: "5,000 faithful at the 196th Regensburg Diocesan Pilgrimage – Bishop Rudolf bestows blessing".

2025 Program

3,000 pilgrims started on the Thursday before Pentecost (June 5) in Regensburg; a total of around 5,000 faithful participated – not only from the Diocese of Regensburg but from all over Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South Africa, and Ukraine. In three days, they covered the 111 kilometers to Altötting. Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer bestowed the pilgrim's blessing; the arrival and the solemn closing service took place at Pentecost in Altötting.
