Overview

PULS & PEILUNG 2026 is a newly conceived festival format. In 2025, students from the Contemporary Puppetry program at HfS Ernst Busch showed their work at Schaubude Berlin as part of individual showcases and diploma performances—without an overarching festival framework. With PULS & PEILUNG, Schaubude will consolidate these works into a festival week starting in 2026.

Before PULS & PEILUNG, student performances took place at Schaubude Berlin as individual events spread throughout the year—diploma premieres typically at the end of the summer semester. Schaubude and the Contemporary Puppetry program at HfS Ernst Busch have collaborated for decades, and student productions were regularly featured on the venue's schedule.

With PULS & PEILUNG starting in 2026, these works will receive their own festival framework for the first time. The precursor formats in 2025 provided the thematic impetus: numerous workshop performances and diploma pieces in 2025 demonstrated that Berlin's puppetry training program has enough material for a full-fledged festival.
