Overview
The premiere of the Prinzenraub open-air spectacle took place in July 2025 at the Hartenstein Castle Ruins. With around 1500 visitors, the staging of the Altenburger Prinzenraub of 1455 was a complete success and laid the foundation for a new open-air theatre tradition in the western Ore Mountains.
Premiere 2025 — The Beginning of a Tradition
The premiere of the Prinzenraub spectacle in July 2025 was an ambitious project by the Friends of Hartenstein Castle Ruins Association: with over 100 amateur actors and a logistically complex production, the castle ruins were transformed into an open-air stage for the first time. The response from the region — around 1500 visitors, sold-out performances, positive press coverage in outlets like Freie Presse — led to the continuation of the project in 2026 with an expanded performance schedule.
Highlights
- Premiere of the Prinzenraub open-air event in 2025
- Around 1500 visitors across two performances
- Over 100 amateur actors from Hartenstein and surrounding areas
