Prenzlauerberginale 2025 — The 8th Edition

The 8th edition of Prenzlauerberginale took place in September 2025, from the 2nd to the 23rd, at the Filmtheater am Friedrichshain on Bötzowstraße in Prenzlauer Berg. The curatorial line followed the established concept: exclusively films about the Prenzlauer Berg district, organized into the three pillars of the Fall of the Wall, the Post-Reunification Era, and Youth in Prenzlauer Berg. The film selection included DEFA classics, documentaries from the RBB archive, and graduation films from the Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF. Tickets cost €12 per screening — the main screenings were held at 8:30 PM in the hall of the historic Yorck cinema. The organizer continued the format as a collaboration between local neighborhood initiatives, the DEFA Foundation, and Yorck Kinos. Film discussions following each screening with directors, eyewitnesses, and film historians — a key part of the curatorial approach — once again proved to be a format that kept the audience in the hall for a long time.
