Overview

The Pentecost pilgrimage 2025 in Marienweiher took place from June 7 to 9, 2025. As every year, numerous groups from Upper Franconia and the Upper Palatinate made their pilgrimage to the Basilica of Mariä Heimsuchung. Solemn services, pilgrim masses, and the traditional candlelight procession marked the high festival of the pilgrimage under the pastoral care of the Franciscan Friars Minor.

The Pfingstwallfahrt Marienweiher 2025 was celebrated from Pentecost Saturday to Pentecost Monday (June 7–9, 2025). The high festival brought several pilgrim groups from the parishes of Upper Franconia and the Upper Palatinate to Marienweiher, many of them classically on foot. Solemn masses were celebrated in the baroque Basilica of Mariä Heimsuchung; in the evening, the traditional candlelight procession wound through the streets of the Franconian Forest village.

The Franciscan Friars Minor accompanied the pilgrims with pilgrim masses, opportunities for confession, and personal conversations. Despite the changeable early summer weather, the pilgrimage once again confirmed Marienweiher's special status as one of Bavaria's oldest and most vibrant Marian pilgrimage sites.
