Overview

In 2025, around Pentecost (Pentecost Sunday = June 8, 2025), thousands of pilgrims from Munich, Rosenheim, Regensburg, Straubing, and other places once again walked to Altötting. The highlight was the joint, solemn procession to the Chapel of Grace and the grand Pontifical Mass in the Basilica of St. Anna.

The Pentecost Pilgrimages in 2025 followed the centuries-old tradition: several foot pilgrimage groups from Old Bavaria set out for two to four days towards Altötting, the Bavarian national shrine. As every year, the joint procession of the Munich and Rosenheim groups, as well as the festive service in the Basilica of St. Anna, formed the climax. The traditional Regensburg Diocesan Foot Pilgrimage and the Straubing Foot Pilgrimage also reached Altötting for the Pentecost festival. Singing, praying, and walking long distances together characterized the pilgrimage in 2025 as a living sign of lived faith.
