Overview

The 69th edition of the Peitzer Fischerfest took place in early August 2025 in Volkspark Peitz. Three days of folk festival with fishermen's jousting on the Teufelsteich, parade on Sunday, coronation of the Teichnixe, several stages with live music, and the traditional carp market. Thousands of visitors from Niederlausitz, Spreewald, Cottbus, and Berlin filled the Volkspark — and the Peitz carp from the 27 historic ponds were sold out as always.
In the summer of 2025, the 69th Peitzer Fischerfest took place amidst warm midsummer weather — filling the Volkspark with thousands of visitors from all over Niederlausitz. The senior coffee afternoon started on Friday afternoon, followed by the first concert on the main stage in the evening and the festive coronation of the Teichnixe. The highlight on Saturday was the traditional fishermen's jousting on the Teufelsteich — two boats, two teams, long poles, and in the end, the losers fall into the water. On Sunday, the grand parade marched through Peitz: fishermen's guild, clubs, floats, marching bands. The carp stalls were busy all day, and the final evening program concluded three days of festivities in the carp town.
