Annual art market in the Clemenswerth Castle park — around 60 artists from Germany and the Netherlands present painting, sculpture, ceramics, and photography
The ParkArt art market offers the unique opportunity to present high-quality contemporary art in the ambiance of an outstanding baroque castle. The artist stalls are set up along the paths of the castle park, allowing visitors to wander from stall to stall while experiencing the historic architecture of Clemenswerth Castle. The combination of experiencing art and a park stroll is a hallmark of the market and distinguishes it from many purely indoor art fairs.
The approximately 60 participating artists come from Germany and the Netherlands — the proximity to the border of Sögel makes the Dutch participation particularly numerous. The disciplines range from painting and sculpture to ceramics, glass art, photography, and mixed-media works. ParkArt thus offers a cross-section of contemporary artistic expressions and styles. The artists are carefully selected, which maintains the market's quality at a high level.
Clemenswerth Castle, built by Johann Conrad Schlaun between 1737 and 1747, is a candidate for the UNESCO World Heritage list and one of the most unique baroque ensembles in Northern Germany. The star-shaped layout with the main pavilion and eight hunting lodges provides a spectacular backdrop for the art market. During the ParkArt weekend, the Emsland Museum in the castle is open during regular hours, and visitors can combine visiting the art market with a tour of the castle.
Admission to the art market is €7 for adults, €3 for concessions, and €16 for a family ticket. The opening hours of 10 am to 5:30 pm on both days allow for a relaxed visit. The cafeteria in the castle is open and offers refreshments and light snacks. The atmosphere is characterized by tranquility, focus on the art, and the unique combination of culture and nature.
The two market days offer art lovers, collectors, and families the opportunity to discover high-quality art in the ambiance of a baroque castle ensemble. The exact list of artists for 2026 will be published by the museum in advance on clemenswerth.de.
