Edition 2025 — Plein Air Festival
The Ostsee Plein Air Festival 2025 took place in early May in Kühlungsborn and Bad Doberan. Workshops, open painting days, and the final exhibition at Kunsthalle confirmed the event's reputation as Germany's largest plein air painting festival.
In 2025, the Ostsee Plein Air Festival once again gathered hundreds of painters on the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea coast in early May. Workshops in oil, watercolour, and pastel were offered concurrently in Kühlungsborn and Bad Doberan/Heiligendamm. The open painting days led participants to the beach, promenade, steep cliffs, and historic town centres. The final exhibition at Kunsthalle Kühlungsborn awarded three main prizes (€1,000, €500, and €300) as well as the audience award from the Ostsee-Zeitung newspaper. The winner was Rita Dahlem.
