Overview

The 2025 Ostritz Peace Festival continued the annual tradition of civil society peace festivals in the Upper Lusatia region. With concerts, political workshops, information and participation stands, as well as the traditional 'Lights for Peace' human chain in the market square, a statement for openness, democracy, and tolerance was once again made.

In 2025, the Ostritz Peace Festival once again confirmed its status as an important civil society event in Upper Lusatia. The program, featuring cultural contributions, workshops, and participation stands, was supported by the International Encounter Centre St. Marienthal (IBZ) and the broad citizens' initiative.

The symbolic 'Lights for Peace' event in Ostritz market square remained a central program highlight. With the motto 'Set a sign — Pay attention — Take action,' the tradition of peace was carried forward.
