Overview

In January, the Orgel Plus Festival 2025 once again opened Bottrop's churches for sacred and classical music with unusual sound combinations. Concerts featuring the organ and various instruments — piano, pan flute, violin, harp, brass — as well as film concerts and children's programmes formed the backbone of the festival.

In 2025, the festival once again utilized the acoustic diversity of Bottrop's churches, especially St. Cyriakus, Liebfrauenkirche, and St. Joseph in Batenbrock. The taster concert at the beginning, the opening service, and the New Year's concert marked the festive start; several smaller concerts and the excursion to Dutch organs rounded off the programme.

Over the years, the festival has established itself as a blend of church concert series and experimental classical festival — filling a gap in the classical calendar of the Ruhr area, which the Bottrop Cultural Office is deliberately targeting.
