Overview

The Oettingen Jakobi-Kirchweih 2025 took place on the last weekend of July 2025 — as always, opened on Friday by the mayor in the market square. On Sunday, the traditional Fischerstechen in the Wörnitz and Dirndlspringen in full traditional costume. Several thousand visitors from the Donau-Ries region, the Nördlinger Ries, and northern Swabia.

The previous edition of the Jakobi-Kirchweih followed the established Volksfest format. The opening on Friday evening with the beer tapping in the market square has marked the start of the festival for years. Throughout the festival weekend, families, traditional costume wearers, and tourists took advantage of the historic old town backdrop for strolls, visits to the festival tent, and observation of the Sunday customs.

The local press (Donau-Ries-Aktuell, Donauwörther Zeitung) reported on the 2025 edition in several articles — including the boat parade on Saturday evening and the Fischerstechen on Sunday. This coverage helps to ensure that the Oettingen Jakobi-Kirchweih remains known beyond the city limits and attracts tourists from the entire Donau-Ries region and the adjacent Swabian Jura.
