Overview

In 2025, the House of World Cultures once again hosted its annual Nowruz night on the Persian New Year. The format of a Haft-Sin installation, Hafez Oracle, and music performance already shaped the evening in the Magnus Hirschfeld Bar at HKW in Tiergarten. Free admission, trilingual in Farsi, German, and English — a central spring gathering for the Berlin diaspora and an open format for the Berlin audience.

Already in 2025, the House of World Cultures used the astronomically calculated Nowruz date in March for a performance evening that paved the way for the classic format of subsequent years. In 2025, the focus was again on the Haft-Sin installation as a spatial setup in the Magnus Hirschfeld Bar, complemented by performative readings, live music, and a DJ set in the late evening hours.

Program curators from the Persian-speaking Berlin community organized the evening with the clear aim of opening the traditional Nowruz ritual into an open, trilingual space for encounter. The 2025 event confirmed Nowruz Night as a permanent fixture in HKW's spring program and established the framework for the 2026 edition.
