Overview

In 2025, the Humboldt Forum once again invited Berlin diaspora associations to the grand Nouruz, Newroz, Nauroz spring festival at Schlossplatz. Over several hours, the day offered concerts with Persian, Kurdish, Afghan, and Uzbek artists, dance performances and workshops, hands-on activities for children, a bazaar, and culinary specialties. Admission was free.

Established Diaspora Event in Mitte

In 2025, the Humboldt Forum at Schlossplatz in the Mitte district once again established itself as Berlin's central venue for the Nouruz spring festival. Six to seven Berlin associations – including Integrationshelfer Meehr e.V., GAFCA, Rojavida, Mittani, Yekmal e.V., San'at e.V., and PUL e.V. – collaborated with the venue to create a program that brings together Persian, Kurdish, Afghan, and Central Asian traditions.

Program Structure

As in subsequent years, the program was divided into four pillars: concerts featuring artists from the entire region, dance performances and workshops, hands-on activities for families (kite making, egg painting, henna tattooing, flower crowns), and a bazaar with handicrafts and culinary specialties.

Significance

With UNESCO recognition as Intangible Cultural Heritage (2009) and the UN's International Nowruz Day (March 21st), the festival holds significant symbolic visibility. For Berlin's diaspora communities, it is one of the most important shared dates of the year.

Highlights

Diaspora spring festival at Schlossplatz; six Berlin associations; concerts, dance, bazaar.
