Overview

The 67th edition of the Nordic Film Days Lübeck took place from November 5th to 9th, 2025, attracting around 25,000 visitors — a 20% increase compared to the previous year. With 191 films in 226 public screenings, the festival debut at KOLK 17, and the immersive installation "Life in a Generation Ship" by Yael Bartana, the festival marked a successful year. It was also the farewell edition for Festival Director Thomas Hailer after five years.

Review of a Strong Edition

The 67th Nordic Film Days Lübeck in 2025 drew approximately 25,000 visitors to the three venues — a 20% increase compared to 2024. 534 filmmakers attended, including 152 from Scandinavia, the Baltics, and Germany. A total of 191 films, TV episodes, and audiovisual works were shown in 226 public screenings, complemented by 25 side-bar events.

A New Venue

For the first time, KOLK 17 (Theaterfigurensammlung) was integrated into the festival — an expansion that meaningfully complemented the already curated venue network of CineStar Stadthalle and KommunalKino KoKi.

Yael Bartana and the School Program

The immersive installation "Life in a Generation Ship" by artist Yael Bartana attracted around 1,000 visitors. The school program reached nearly 2,500 schoolchildren and kindergarten children with free screenings — a 30% increase compared to the previous year.

Awards

A total of eleven awards with prize money of €67,500 were presented — distributed across the various competition sections.
