Overview

In 2025, the Nikolausmarkt on Neustadt bei Coburg's market square was also celebrated in its three-day format. As in previous years, glass and Christmas tree ornaments in the Lauscha tradition, arts and crafts, and regional specialties characterized the event. Christmas music and a children's program completed the market — serving as a cozy pre-Christmas meeting point for families from the Coburg region and the adjacent Thuringian region.

The 2025 edition followed the established format. Approximately 30 stalls offered regional specialties, handmade ornaments, and the typical Lauscha Christmas baubles of the region. The family-friendly program with choirs and club performances attracted families from Neustadt, Coburg, Sonneberg, and the surrounding areas.

The market builds on the town's historical tradition: Neustadt bei Coburg is the 'World Capital of Dolls' and is located directly on the border with Thuringia, where Lauscha is considered the birthplace of the glass Christmas bauble. Both legacies — the doll town and the glass region — merge at the Nikolausmarkt.
