The 2025 Newroz Festival brought together around 2,000 visitors from the Kurdish community in Volkspark Potsdam to celebrate the Kurdish New Year. Dances, live music, and a fire ritual marked the festival day on the equinox.
The 2025 Newroz Festival took place, as usual, on the day of the spring equinox, March 21. Around 2,000 visitors gathered on the event stage in Volkspark Potsdam to celebrate the Kurdish New Year.
Govend dances in traditional colorful costumes, live music from several Kurdish bands, and the fire ritual were the highlights of the day. Reporting in the Tagesspiegel newspaper recognized the event as one of the most important migration festivals in the region.
