The Night of the Open Churches 2025 took place on Whit Sunday, June 8, in Cottbus — as every year with the participation of several churches in the city, a diverse musical and liturgical program, and free admission. The tradition has existed since 2002 and is an integral part of ecumenical life in Cottbus.
Whit Sunday 2025 — Established Pentecost Tradition
The 2025 edition continued the tradition that has existed since 2002. Several Cottbus churches opened their doors for concerts, readings, Sorbian-Wendish dances, and quiet devotions. The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Christlicher Kirchen Cottbus coordinated the ecumenical program and facilitated connections between the participating congregations. As every year, the night attracted a mixed audience — congregation members, city residents, tourists from Berlin and Lower Lusatia.
