Overview

The Night of the Choirs 2025 once again presented over nine hours of choral music in St. Petri's Main Church. Various Hamburg choirs performed in continuous succession, with the program ranging from sacred Renaissance polyphony and Bach motets to gospel and contemporary arrangements. Free admission, donations accepted at the exit.

The 2025 edition once again confirmed the viability of the format. Hamburg's choral scene – one of the densest in Germany with over 200 choirs organized in the Hamburg Choir Association – provided a varied program for the nine-hour concert duration. The audience made use of the free movement between concert blocks, some staying for individual pieces, others for entire program segments.

St. Petri's Main Church once again showcased its acoustic strengths: Renaissance polyphony was particularly impressive in the nave, while pop and gospel arrangements gained additional resonance under the vault. In the state of Hamburg, the Night of the Choirs complements the Long Night tradition with a vocal format that is both contemplative and diverse.
