Overview

The MUNIQ Jazz Festival begins its debut in 2026. There was no edition in 2025 — the format is a new project by the niq kollektiv, an association of young Munich musicians. Preparations were underway behind the scenes in 2025.

In the run-up to the 2026 debut edition, the niq kollektiv laid the structural and artistic foundation for the festival in 2025: defining the Carte Blanche concept, making inquiries to Eva Klesse and Moritz Renner, negotiating with the venues ZIRKA and SpaceForSkate, seeking funding, and building a festival identity. This quiet preparatory phase is part of the festival's history — the musical premiere follows only in 2026.

It is noteworthy that the niq kollektiv aimed to expand the Munich jazz scene with a new voice, rather than relying on established structures. The 2026 debut edition is thus also the result of several years of curatorial and organizational groundwork.
