Overview

The 2025 edition of the Münchner Christkindlmarkt ran from November 24 to December 24. The market was opened on November 24 at 5 PM by Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter with the ceremonial lighting of the approximately 25m high Christmas tree – a 75-year-old spruce from Ellmau am Wilden Kaiser in Tyrol. The Krampus run took place on December 14, 2025, from 3 PM to 5 PM.

In 2025, the Münchner Christkindlmarkt was opened on November 24th at 5 PM by Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter with the lighting of the Christmas tree. The tree – an approximately 25m high and 75-year-old spruce from the municipality of Ellmau am Wilden Kaiser – was decorated with 265 strings of lights and 3,975 LED lights.

Krampus Run December 14

The Krampus run took place on December 14, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM through the pedestrian zone – featuring around 30 groups with over 300 masked participants and an estimated 50,000 spectators. The route was adjusted in 2025, requiring temporary bus diversions.

2025 Program

As every year, 137 stalls offered mulled wine, sausages, gingerbread, and handicrafts. The daily Advent singing from the town hall balcony and the Himmelwerkstatt in the festival hall also took place, while the Kripperlmarkt at Alter Peter opened concurrently.
