Europe's largest medieval festival in the palace park — May 14th to 17th, 2026
The MPS — Mittelalterlich Phantasie Spectaculum is Germany's most important medieval festival series. The Rastede stop, with its historic Schlosspark (palace park), is one of the tour's most beautiful venues — a classic park and palace complex serving as a natural backdrop for market activities, camp life, and stage concerts.
The 2026 edition runs from Thursday, May 14th (Ascension Day), to Sunday, May 17th, 2026. Opening hours: Thursday 11 AM–12 AM, Friday 1 PM–12 AM, Saturday 11 AM–12 AM, Sunday 11 AM–7 PM. At 120 market stalls, artisans, leatherworkers, blacksmiths, potters, toy makers, and medieval cooks will present their wares. 56 encampments with historically costumed participants will bring the Middle Ages to life.
The main stage features top acts from the German-speaking medieval and pagan rock scene:
The Rastede palace park is one of Lower Saxony's most beautiful park landscapes and hosts not only the MPS every year but also the International Music Days, the Oldenburg State Tournament, and the Ellernfest. For the MPS, the spacious park offers optimal conditions for stage construction, the market mile, and encampments.
Schlosspark Rastede, centrally located in the town. Via the A 29 (Rastede exit). Train connection at Rastede station. Park-and-ride facilities are designated during the festival.
