Mosel Musikfestival — History and Concept

The Mosel Musikfestival was founded in 1985 and has since developed into one of Germany's most renowned summer music festivals. The concept is extraordinary: instead of concentrating on a central festival site, the concerts are spread across the entire Moselle landscape – from the Luxembourg border, through Trier, Bernkastel-Kues, Cochem, to Koblenz. Each venue is carefully selected and offers a unique ambiance.

Venues in the Cochem-Zell District

The Cochem-Zell district regularly hosts several festival concerts. The Stiftskirche in Treis-Karden, one of the most important Romanesque churches in the region, offers excellent acoustics for classical concerts. Reichsburg Cochem, with its medieval ambiance, is ideal for atmospheric performances. Further venues in wineries, monastery churches, or town halls complement the offerings.
