Overview

The 2025 Mittefastenmarkt, like in previous years, extended over approximately 500 meters in Bamberg's pedestrian zone between Gabelmann and Maxplatz. Wooden wares, basket wares, household items, flowers, and culinary specialties characterized the traditional spring market of the UNESCO World Heritage city. However, the declining number of exhibitors led to the decision to reform the concept starting in 2026.

The Bamberg Mittefastenmarkt 2025 took place as usual in the city center, following the classic distribution pattern between Gabelmann and Maxplatz. The market attracted visitors from the entire region to the UNESCO World Heritage city.

However, visible gaps appeared along the approximately 500-meter market route — a consequence of the continued decline in the number of exhibitors, which traditional Franconian markets have been struggling with for years. These gaps were the catalyst for the 2026 realignment and the concentration on Maximiliansplatz.
