Overview

The Memminger Fischertag 2025 took place, as every year, at the end of July with the traditional Stadtbach (city stream) fishing. The Memmingen Fishermen's Guild drained the Stadtbach, fished it together, and crowned the Fischerkönig (Fisher King) – marking the start of the subsequent Wallenstein Festival Week.

In 2025, the day followed the traditional schedule once again: wake-up call at dawn, fishermen's procession through the old town, fishermen's oath on Schrannenplatz, cannon shot and start of fishing, coronation brunch, camp life at the Grimmelschanze, and Fischerabend (Fishermen's Evening) in the Stadthalle.

The Fischertag is one of the most important traditional events in Southern Germany and is part of Bavaria's intangible cultural heritage – with it, Memmingen visibly presents itself each year as a historic imperial city and the gateway to the Allgäu.
