Overview

In 2025, the MDR-Musiksommer also ran through Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia with 25 concerts in special locations. Michaelstein Monastery was not yet a venue in 2025 – the classical evening there was newly added to the program in 2026.

The 2025 edition of the MDR-Musiksommer followed the established format: a festival spread over several weeks in special concert halls, monasteries, castles, and natural sites in Central Germany. The three MDR ensembles formed the artistic core, complemented by prominent soloists and ensembles from the international classical scene.
