Edition 2025 — Markranstädter Kinderfest
The 149th edition of the Markranstädter Kinderfest in 2025 once again delighted thousands of visitors from the Leipzig district. The parade, sports competitions, and a diverse stage program marked the festival week a week before the summer holidays, setting the stage for the 150th anniversary in 2026.
The 2025 festival week followed the proven format: opening on Thursday, sports competitions on Friday, children's concerts on Saturday, the grand parade on Sunday, and the festival conclusion on Monday. Schools and associations in the town worked for months on the decorated floats for the parade — a Markranstädt tradition since 1904.
In the run-up to the 150th edition in 2026, 2025 also commemorated the revival of the festival in 1992: the Markranstädter Kinderfestverein presented historical photos and documents from its over 180-year history.
