Overview

In 2025, the major maritime event at the New Harbour coincided with SAiL Bremerhaven, an event held only every five years. From August 13th to 17th, more than 250 large and traditional sailing ships from around the world gathered in the Seestadt – one of the largest windjammer gatherings on the North Sea coast.

In 2025, the Seestadt's maritime summer festival merged with SAiL Bremerhaven, the international windjammer gathering held only every five years. From August 13th to 17th, more than 250 tall ships and traditional vessels docked around the Old and New Harbours, including the Alexander von Humboldt II and the Peruvian training ship Unión, which at 115 meters was one of the longest ships at the event. Highlights included the SAiL-IN arrival parade, the grand fireworks on Saturday evening, a pirate village, a street food festival, and a wine deck. Admission was free.
