Overview

MaerzMusik 2025 took place in March 2025 under the artistic direction of Kamila Metwaly. With concerts, sound installations, performances, and symposia at several Berlin venues — Haus der Berliner Festspiele in Charlottenburg, Radialsystem, silent green, Akademie der Künste — the festival confirmed its status as one of Europe's most important platforms for contemporary music. Composers from the Global South, decolonial perspectives, and experimental sound art shaped the programming, laying the groundwork for the 2026 edition from March 20 to 29.

The 2025 edition of MaerzMusik took place in March, as usual, at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele and other decentralized venues. Under the artistic direction of Kamila Metwaly, the festival continued its trajectory: contemporary music from an international perspective, with a special focus on composers outside the classical Western European canon. World premieres, sound installations, music theatre, and discourse formats characterized the program. The 2025 edition prepared the ground for the 24th iteration in 2026, featuring the MaHalla opening and 16 world premieres.
