Overview

The 9th edition of the LURUPINA Circus Festival took place in September 2025 as usual in Böverstpark, Hamburg-Lurup. International companies presented contemporary circus arts under the circus tent and on open-air stages. Since its founding in 2017, the festival has established itself as a Hamburg venue for contemporary circus.

The 2025 edition continued the festival's course: international program, curated with an eye on contemporary forms — acrobatics, aerial silks, trapeze, floor acrobatics, and clowning at an adult-oriented level. The circus tent served as the central venue, complemented by open-air acts on the meadow in front of the tent.

Lichtwark-Forum Lurup e.V., the organizer, has developed the festival into a format with its own profile over nine years. Funding from the Altona District Office and Hamburg foundations made this possible. For 2026, the funding situation is described as tense — the anniversary edition is therefore being prepared with greater initiative from the association and its environment.
