Bavarian Wiesn on the Sülzwiesen — September 11th to 14th, 2026
The Lüneburg Oktoberfest is the Northern German version of the Bavarian Wiesn — and with its 39th edition in 2026, it has long been an established fixture in the Hanseatic city's festival calendar. From Friday, September 11th, to Monday, September 14th, 2026, celebrations will take place on the traditional Sülzwiesen festival grounds.
Four days of genuine Oktoberfest feeling: Pretzels, beer, chicken, and Lederhosen define the atmosphere. The large Bavarian festival tent is the centerpiece — with beer service, live music, Schlager music, traditional Wiesn hits, and exuberant spirits.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
The Sülzwiesen are Lüneburg's central festival meadow — in spring, they host the Lüneburg Spring Market, in summer the cultural summer, and in late summer the Oktoberfest. With a central location within walking distance of the old town, they are ideally accessible for festival visitors.
What takes place in Munich at the beginning of October happens in Lüneburg in September — its own Northern German variant of the Bavarian festival classic. Traditional costumes are welcome, but not mandatory. The atmosphere is family-friendly, yet consistently exuberant.
