Overview

The 2025 Lübeck Christmas City attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Hanseatic city's UNESCO Old Town for over six weeks. The classic market in front of the Town Hall, the Historical Market at the Holy Spirit Hospital, the Maritime Christmas Market, and numerous concerts in the brick churches characterized the winter season.

The 2025 edition continued the tradition maintained for centuries. For over six weeks, several thematically distinct markets transformed Lübeck's Old Town into a festive winter backdrop. Hundreds of thousands of visitors from Northern Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and all over Europe came to the Hanseatic city — Lübeck once again confirmed its reputation as one of Germany's most important Christmas destinations.

As in previous years, the musical component in the Gothic brick churches (St. Mary's Church, Cathedral, St. Peter's Church, St. James' Church, St. Giles' Church) was central: organ matinees, Bach cantatas, Advent music, and choir concerts complemented the market program and extended the Advent season well into the evening hours.
