Overview

In 2025, Lübben still hosted the traditional Spreewald Festival in its last classic edition, before the city decided to cancel it for 2026 due to financial reasons and reorient it as the Harbour Festival. Thus, the city and municipal utility company laid the foundation for the new format in 2025.

In 2025, the traditional Spreewald Festival Lübben once again occupied the city centre and harbour of Lübben in its classic form with a punt parade, stage programme, and market stalls. However, the city's economic situation forced the administration in autumn 2025 to cancel the 2026 edition. SÜW and LWG Lübben then developed the concept for a new maritime experience festival at Lübben harbour and put it out to public tender. With the award to Kuban Events in March 2026 and the announced premiere in September 2026, a new chapter in Lübben's festival culture began — building on traditions, but under a new brand and with a focused concept.
