Overview

In 2025, the Lichtspiele des Westens once again transformed Karl-Heine-Straße between Plagwitz and Lindenau into a winter light mile. Residents, business owners, and artists created light installations along the entire street, a jury awarded prizes for the most beautiful contributions — embedded within the Boulevard Heine neighborhood festival.

Lichtspiele des Westens 2025

The 2025 edition of the Lichtspiele des Westens took place on December 6 and once again transformed Karl-Heine-Straße between Felsenkeller and Lindenauer Markt into a festival mile of light. Light projections, shop window installations, gable wall mappings, illuminated trees, and courtyards with bonfires and mulled wine stands characterized the five-hour event. The jury wandered through the neighborhood and awarded prizes for the most beautiful resident installations — a tradition that motivates new contributions each year. The Schaubühne Lindenfels and the Buchkinder association contributed their own programs.
