Overview
Between 7 PM and 10 PM, five light art projects transformed the city center ring road into a path for reflection on the autumn of '89. In St. Nicholas' Church, the Peace Prayer (5–6 PM) took place, followed by the Speech for Democracy by Georgian-German author Nino Haratischwili. On Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Monument to Freedom and Unity began at 8 PM, with guests of honor including Federal Minister of Culture Wolfram Weimer and Saxon Minister-President Michael Kretschmer. In Schillerpark, the large installation "Kerzen-89" was again ready to be lit by thousands of visitors.
