In 2025, the Lichtenegger Bund e.V. celebrated its 40th anniversary. In October, Walter Kolbeck was appointed honorary chairman, and director Johannes Reitmeier received the Schauer Kulturpreis and awards for his opera direction in Toulouse. The 2025 season marked a highlight in the association's life.

The year 2025 was dedicated to the 40th anniversary for the Lichtenegger Burgfestspiele. The Lichtenegger Bund e.V., founded in 1985, was honored in October 2025 during a festive ceremony: Walter Kolbeck, one of the founding fathers and long-time chairman of the association, received the title of Honorary Chairman.

The artistic director Johannes Reitmeier was also honored multiple times in 2025 — with the renowned Schauer Kulturpreis for his life's work in Bavarian theater and with recognition for his opera direction at a theater in Toulouse. The Lichtenegger Burgfestspiele thus presented itself in 2025 as a mature institution in the Bavarian theater landscape, far beyond the Bavarian Forest.
